Week 71 I had a hot date this week!

FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,

We have no power. It has been a fun morning. Due to the high winds we won't have power back till tomorrow, but no worries God is good and we have a back-up generator. Blessed.

We had a very good and weird week. Facebook has been blowing up and we have been talking to lots and lots of people about the gospel, one of those people that we got to start teaching is Ray. RAY IS SO COOL. Basically we brought up the Book of Mormon and his first 3 questions were how can I get it? can I read it? and do you do studies that I could learn more about it? WE WERE AMAZED. Honestly I was very skeptical bc it seemed too good to be true. BUT sure enough we had a zoom lesson on Wednesday and he just explained how he feels that things are missing in his life and from the bible and how he really is seeking for that missing piece. He told us that he is really just working on following the will of God and thus far he has loved everything that we have taught about the restoration!! He is SOOO cool. Definitely a HUGE tender mercy!!

We also got to have lessons with lots and lots of our amazing members. One of the members, Chris, told us his conversion story, he went to jail for 9 years and during those 9 years he was sent a triple combination and basically spent all of his time reading and studying. He also got to be subscribed to the Ensign and read those ALL the time. He ate all of it up and was so excited to get out OF PRISON and be baptized. After he got out he had to wait another 5 years until he was off of probation before he could be baptized. SO this AMAZING member waited 16 years total to be baptized and he is just as good as can be. Talk about long-suffering, he has so much faith and his experience is humbling. I often feel like I can't wait 3 days for things to happen and here is Chris FAITHFULLY waiting 16 YEARS. He is amazing. Very grateful I get to know him.

I was thinking this week a lot about patience. In District Council we were challenged to be silent and not move or look at anyone or do anything for 30 seconds...it was tricky, especially because it felt like 8 minutes. Then we had to be still and ponder about Jesus Christ and focus on how we can increase our faith in Him for 30 seconds...which ended up feeling like 3 seconds. Afterwards she told us that for both of them she actually made us wait a minute and talked about how our trials seem to go by much faster and seem to be much more bearable when we are focused on Christ. I thought a lot about that this week and it is absolutely true, Our Savior just makes everything soooo much better. I would invite y'all to focus more on Him this week, I promise you will see the difference.

Mucho Love,
Sister Tams

Other/Funny Stuff:
-This guy named Andrew wanted to take us out for coffee, obviously we don't really do that so instead he took us to this juicery place called the nectary and me and Sister Hancock purchased ourselves a "Hot Date" which was basically just a plant based cinnamon smoothie, not too bad if I say so myself. By far my best date in awhile.
-We went to visit some members in the outskirts of our area and it was just dirt road up hillsides for miles...it was my happy place.
-Sis Hancocks fam sent her a Halloween package so we got to decorate...it made me VERY VERY happy.
-It has been getting colder and I have apparently gotten far too used to California weather bc I studied this week with a sweatshirt over my dress, sweatpants under my dress, thickkk socks, and 2 blankets. I am weak.
-Sis Soultz LOVES my chicken enchiladas but for the last 3 weeks the enchilada sauce I use has been out of stock so finally she was so fed up that she asked her dad to send us some, we got the package and all of the sudden we owned 112 ounces of green enchilada sauce. He sent us 4 HUGE cans. It was quite exciting.
-One of our cute members Tats got us a smiley face balloon, pic feat below...she is a cutie
