Week 59 Horses Donkeys and Gas Leaks
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,
I promise I am not exaggerating when I say that it has been ANOTHER wild week.
We got to go on exchanges with the Peterson Lane Sisters, I got to go to their area and be with Sister Rust and Sister Conor. I was Sister Conors STL in her first area about a year ago and it is AMAZING to see how far she has come. She is a rock star and I enjoyed our exchange SO much. Especially because we got to go to a member named Pattys house, who collects Breyers horses, she does not give one to many people BUT she gave me one and I felt very special.
We also got to go to MLC this week! With all that is going down we thought it was going to be over zoom, but luckily GOD IS GOOD and we still have a few open counties in the mission left so we all got to go to a cute little place called Lakeport in the Ukiah Zone. It was another roadtrip with a LOT of beautiful scenery. Good stuff. We also learned A TON about member work, which as you all know I LOVE THE MEMBERS.
We got to see Michael this week and make sure she was all set with her computer so that she could listen to the Book of Mormon, but apparently something happened yesterday because she called us and had us walk her through getting it pulled back up. She just wanted to listen to it so bad. I LOVE HER.
We have continued to have awesome lessons with our friend Kristianna, she rocks and I love her. I also LOVE the bible. Have you read it lately? You should, it is pretty bomb.
We have been working long and hard this week on something that you should ALL join us in doing. Its August 17th-23rd, AKA the Week of Happiness. Its a sad time right now and all we want to do is lift people up. SO we came up with Week of Happiness, basically it is simple daily prompts to bring a little more sunshine into peoples days, please go follow this group: https://m.facebook.com/groups/4075709379137994/?ref=pages_profile_groups_tab and participate in all the fun stuff that we have going on that week!!
Speaking of the bible and happiness, in my studies this week I was reading in John chapter 21 which talks about when Christ was with His apostles and He asked Simon Peter if he loved Him, 3 times. Each of the times he answered Christ followed up by telling Simon to "Feed my Sheep." This really stuck out to me in regards to what WE do, every day, to show Christ that we love Him. Even as a missionary, I often get caught up in my own world doing my own thing and I forget the Lords simple invitation: to "Feed my Sheep." He is asking for our help in lifting those around us and being a friend, He lets us feel the joy of feeding the sheep. So don't forget, like I have, that SO many people need you right now. Just let Him lead you and I promise you will be an instrument in doing A LOT of good.
Mucho Love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny Stuff:
-Funny Story: We got home twice this week to the smell of gas. Our stove is ancient and we were 99% sure the first time it was just that we left a burner on. BUT then we came home again to the same smell. SO just to be cautious we called a few people and in the end the APs came over, PG&E came over, and we slept at the Peterson Lane Sisters apartment. It was a wild time, NEVER thought that I would stay up till 11:30pm with the assistants...but ya know. Never say never I guess. (all is well, they got it figured out turned out not to be a gas leak...better safe than sorry tho I guess)
-We teach this 8 year old named Bella sometimes and she has a donkey named Pete that she showed us yesterday. It chased her around for a good minute and it was quite entertaining.
-At MLC AP Henderson asked if me or Sister Bunker would lead the music and I said no bc I only barely know how (I do it wrong every time, I have no rhythm) and Sister Bunker said yes. BUT apparently AP Mortenson didn't hear that conversation because he announced that I would lead the music, SO Sister Bunker just handed me the phone and laughed while I lead a very sloppy song, it was pretty funny bc like half the people there overheard the conversation and knew I said no at first. Good stuff.
-We did a couple different service projects this week and I just love service, it is the best.
