Week 55 Star Stripes and Social Media...
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,
Hope Y'all had a GREAT 4th of July!!!
It was another good week here in Sebastopol California. I learned a LOT of amazing things and even got some exciting news!
Let me tell you a few fun facts about Sebastopol/my area:
-Everyone here still has a landline/home phone
-Every Friday on main street a group of people pickett with anti government stuff and then on the other side of the street people come waving American flags.
-It is a VERY old fashioned town, everything is older. Everywhere has character and personality, it is the best I love it.
-Ever since the quarantine people have been going outside every night at 8pm and howling at the moon
-The members are amazing and so are the people we get to teach.
Michael is doing REALLY well. This week we taught her about the Plan of Salvation and as we were talking about her purpose here on Earth she said a light went off and she just felt like she finally knew why she was here. SO COOL. She is an angel and loves to feed us something every time we go over. We try to be polite and accept most of the time. I tried the very first seltzer water that didn't make me want to throw up, so that was fun.
We went on 2 exchanges this week!! I got to stay in my area with both Sister Brock and Hermana Hill. WHAT GOOD MISSIONARIES. God is good and makes my job as an STL veryyyy easy. Both of those Sisters have gone through A LOT but have been such amazing examples of strength and obedience. They rock.
We got a call on Wednesday from one of the Tech Elders and he asked us to be Social Media Specialists for the mission...SOOOO basically in my mission there is a few Facebook pages that have gotten huge and they have asked us to help manage those as well as manage the other small pages throughout the mission. BIG JOB. There is also a big learning curve and we are still figuring it all out BUT if you want to see some SUPER uplifting stuff and support me go like
and
I was reading in John 8 this week and verse 31 & 32 really stuck out to me. It reads:
"...if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free"
With celebrating the 4th of July and thinking about what freedom really means to me this scripture helped to shed some light. There is SO many different sources to look to right now, and honestly it is hard to know who is telling the truth. BUT I love having the assurance that God will NEVER lead us astray. As we read His scriptures and heed the words of the prophet we can be freed from the uncertainties of this world.
It was a good week my friends, God is GOOD all the time.
Mucho Love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny stuff:
-Turns out I like plums...I am a plum girl
-We decided to do a fun little activity with the Bishops family this week. We blindfolded their daughter Jaida and had her travel from one side of the deck to the other only listening to her moms voice. It was going GREAT until things took a turn for the worst and she ran straight into the side of the house with full confidence. We felt SO bad, she had a mad goose egg but she is a champ and was a REALLY good sport about it.
-We did service for a member and pulled her weeds. Turns out a different member lives right behind her and owns a guitar. We got serenaded while we pulled weeds. He even sang "Break Away" by Kelly Clarkson. Throw back, love my girl Kelly.
-We live in a granny unit of the cutest New Zealanders you will ever meet. They built our house for their daughter when she had her very first baby Hannah, so they named our house "Hannah's house" GUESS WHO WE MET THIS WEEK? HANNAH. It was like meeting a celebrity, super fun stuff.
-Shout out to my girl Chlo Bo Pearl, Happy 18th birthday you crazy lady.
-SO I do NOT know why but for some reason I have seen LOTS of people answer their doors partially naked/in a towel. WELL this week, this member named Brother Markov forgot about our appointment and answered the door in just a towel...hahhha, it was roughness bc this man has had a couple strokes and doesn't quite operate the same so it was awkward on all accounts.
-We got a referral for a girl named Kristianna this week and she is the cutest, STOKED about it honestly.
