Week 49 The one with the Green Couch...
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,
This week was a whole year. Luckily a REALLY REALLY good year. BUT a year nonetheless. Here are some highlights:
Our good friend Justin is continuing to progress and steal our hearts. This week he told us that when he prayed about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith that he got this really good overwhelming peaceful feeling. He said it wasn't any big revelation but asked what we thought about it and we assured him that it DEFINITELY was revelation and that it was his answer. He was SO excited to hear that and it was SUCH a cool lesson! We also got to teach him about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis in the Book of Mormon (A personal favorite) and we talked about burying our weapons of war. He is SO prepared and asked if we would help him to bury his "unspoken burial" haha. He won't tell us what it is but we told him that we absolutely would help him and it has now been buried for 3 days. He is the best.
In other news, our friend James is amazing. He just has such a strong desire to follow God and it is inspiring. Yesterday we had a lesson with him and some of our members via videochat and we invited him to pray to know if he should be baptized on the 7th of June. He said absolutely and the excitement in that video chat was unreal. All of us are just SO excited for him to get his answer and I cannot wait to hear how his prayer goes on Wednesday. I just LOVE him. He has been baptized in other churches before but he said "Well if I want my car fixed I take it to a mechanic, not some guy on the street. So if I want to be baptized right I want to do it with someone who will do it right." Couldn't agree more, he makes my heart oh so happy.
We also got to drop off a Book of Mormon to our adorable bible reading 15 year old friend Chelsea as well as have a lesson with our new friend Neeko. Neeko is SO cool and has been through SO much. When we told him that he could download the Book of Mormon app on his phone he was almost giddy. He is just so excited to learn and soak it all in so that he can get to know God better. Love him. God is oh so good.
FUNNY STORY: So we are just minding our own business when we get a call on Thursday from the housing Elders telling us that they would like us to move apartments as soon as possible. The senior couple used to live a building over from us and since they have 2 bedrooms and more space, they wanted us to move just in case we get more missionaries here. AHHH. We have no idea what is going to happen but we somehow managed to pack and unpack everything and move it a building over with little to zero time. Every time we set aside time to pack, things got rescheduled and we got to teach lessons instead. So we basically packed up all of our apartment between the hours of lunch, dinner, morning before 8:30, and after 9pm. LUCKILY we have 6 AMAZING elders who live just a town over who offered their services and helped us move 3 beds, 3 desks, 1 couch, and will be coming back over today to move another couch. It was a whirlwind, but we are almost 100% moved in and we really like the new place.
Okay so, my spiritual thought is a little silly this week but stay with me. After the Elders left we sat down on our new couch to teach lessons for the night. Only to discover that our new couch is quite literally the worst. SOOO, we decided to call the Elders and see if they could come back and switch it with our old couch that we love oh so much. They agreed and proceeded to ask me what the odds were that I sleep on our horrible couch that night. I said 1 out of 50 and we both said 27. (If you have never played what are the odds that means that you lose and have to do the challenge) SO I slept on our horrible couch and as I was tossing and turning during the night I thought about how doing the right thing is a lot like sleeping on this bad couch, its not always comfortable or easy but in the end the Lord will bless us. Whether that be with a new couch or otherwise, he will bless us. So there is my silly spiritual thought, I hope you got something out of it.
Mucho love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny Stuff:
-We got into a prank war with the Elders this week and decided to hit them where it hurt. So last Monday we hid ALL of our good friend Elder Tracys basketballs. He would not admit it but he was NOT happy about it ahahha. This Elder names his basketballs he loves them so much. He was sadly already having a rough day though so we felt bad and returned them with a bottle of our favorite soda and a white flag signalling truce. He ripped up our flag and plans to prank us sometime soon, we are only a little scared.
-We decided to be a little healthier and didn't get cream soda this week, yes, you are allowed to applaud.
-Our Stake President is in our ward and loves us and gave us a shoutout in our zone zoom meeting with him so that was fun, he also called dibs on keeping us here...so we will see what happens.
-Sister Derbidge hit her 6 months this week and we celebrated with mini strawberry cake waffles.
-This is long so if you made it this far I love you.
