Week 42 All the Leonards Love me!!!
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,
We are on Day 20 of quarantine! I'm honestly starting to get used to it, its not so bad really. I'm just beyond grateful for the technology that we have so that we can still fulfill our missionary purpose from the comfort of our own homes/apartments.
It was honestly a solid week. We taught 2 people who are all the way in India via video chat which was SO cool. How many people can say that they taught people in India while serving in California? Not many. What a blessing. We were also able to chat with people from Africa, the Phillipines, different states in the U.S., and more so that is COOL. GOD IS SOFTENING THE HEARTS OF THE WHOLE WORLD.
Speaking of worldwide I hope you ALL tuned in to the bomb general conference we had this weekend. IT WAS SO GOOD! SO INSPIRED! THE CHURCH IS TRUE. It was so weird just watching it from the apartment but I took comfort knowing that every single person watching around the world was doing the same thing, once again technology is amazing.
What was your favorite part of conference? There is too much that I loved to include it all but something that really stuck out to me was when Elder Neil L Anderson was speaking, he said something to the effect of "Perhaps your prayers have been answered but you're missing it because your expectations are for something much bigger." That STRUCK my heart. I have been praying a lot lately for a miracle. I desperately want to find someone who is just ready to receive the message with an open heart and enter into the waters of baptism. More than anything else I want to help someone to feel the joy of this restored gospel that I get to feel every single day. But alas, I feel as Alma did in Alma 29, Alma wishes that he was an angel so that he could cry repentance to every people, but he sins in his wish because he recognizes that he should be content with the things that the Lord has already given him. I have a good desire, and it will continue to be my desire but I am working to more fully recognize the little everyday miracles that God grants to me, where I am now is exactly where God needs me to be. Even if it isn't dunking people every second.
God is good my dear friends. Look for His goodness each and every day.
Mucho Love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny Stuff:
-Our mission president gave us permission to do a practice lesson with our families, it was such a cool experience to teach my family back home and testify of this restored gospel.
-We were told on Thursday that our President doesn't want us to go to the store anymore, only the apartment and on walks. He told us to dip into our 2 week supply and to only go out for the necessities. We got permission from him to run to the store because we were in need for some major necessities. God is good and we were able to find toliet paper AND hand sanitizer at dollar tree (We had to wait an hour but still) What a blessing!
-We were chilling in our apartment yesterday when all the sudden our carbon monoxide alarm went off. Mission procedure is to leave immediately, call your leaders, then call 911. So I called 911 for the first time in my life. We had to wait for the fire truck to pull up and luckily they discover that it was just at the end of its life and was chirping because it needed to be replaced.
-We had a mission conference call again yesterday and I loved every second, it was oh so good to see and hear from all those good missionaries. PLUS it was Sister Schmutzs birthday so I got to tell her Happy Birthday even though she is in San Rafael.
-I HAD ANOTHER GUY NAMED LEONARD HIT ON ME. That is 3 Leonards through the span of my mission who have asked if I was single and who turned out to be a little crazy. All the Leonards, my goodness.
-Sooo, when we found out that we wouldn't be able to go to the store/that we are officially staying quarantined till the end of April I reached out to my sweet mom for my favorite cake receipe as my birthday is on the 25th, like the wizard she is only about an hour later a random guy comes knocking on the door with groceries for us, including all the stuff to make my favorite cake. WHAT A BLESSING. SHE IS AMAZING.
-SHOUTOUT to my aunt and my grandma for writing me letters, it was a highlight of the week. If you want to be my favorite pls write me
