Week 35 One Lord, One Faith, One baptism...and ONE WARD
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,
T'was a weird week. T'was a good week. T'was a week where I taught Sister Moala what T'was meant. lol.
We had a lot of stuff fall through this week which was rough but somehow we still kept really busy and had lots to do! So that was great. We had a few awesome lessons and even got to go to Stake Conference yesterday. I love Stake Conference, especially because our Stake Pres is bomb and just loves the missionaries. He and His wife are in one of our wards and so we get to practice our teaching with them! At first that was very intimidating but they are just the sweetest family and I absolutely love it every time we get to go over.
BIG NEWS! They announced at Stake Conference that the 2 wards that we are over (Benicia and Lake Herman) are COMBINING!! So they are just going to be one megaward (or one Utah ward lol)! Everyone here has been wanting it to happen for years so it is all very exciting. We will be officially combined by March 1st so it should be interesting how everything goes down the next few weeks. I am hoping that now that we will have such a big ward we will actually be able to get an official Ward Mission Leader (in both the wards the WML rn is an Elders Quorum counselor) and some Ward Missionaries, both of which would be AMAZING!
We had a bomb lesson with a lady we are teaching named Stephanie this week. I LOVE STEPHANIE! SHE HAS SO MANY GOOD QUESTIONS. Seriously every single time we go over there I leave with questions I didn't know that I had. One of the biggest things that I have learned while teaching her, however, is that every question has an answer. Even if that answer is trust God. There is an answer, this is not a gospel of confusion, but rather a gospel of clarity. Our lesson this week was probably our best one yet because we were able to just focus on those core truths, we were able to invite the spirit, and we were able to talk about our beliefs with common ground. It has been a big blessing in my life and I have learned the value of questioning things, of finding answers, and of knowing what you believe.
We also had a great lesson with Ginger yesterday. She made us cookies and gave us big hugs. I love her so very much, we focused on the Plan of Salvation and how Jesus Christ really is the plan. HE is the whole plan. Because of Him it works, without Him we would be lost. She totally agreed with us and we were able to testify of our Savior and what He means to us. A very sweet spirit was present and I just feel so grateful to be apart of it all.
We got to do service with the Young Women for Valentines Day which was awesome. We went and heart Attacked some of the members and we got to get to know the youth better. They are so sweet and so amazing, we even got asked to teach Early Morning Seminary twice more this week. So that should be fun.
I have been thinking a lot this week about my Savior Jesus Christ and His divine Grace. As most of you should know that word Grace has always perked my interest. Brad Wilcox said:
"Grace is not a booster engine that kicks in once our fuel supply is exhausted. Rather, it is our constant energy source. It is not the light at the end of the tunnel but the light that moves us through the tunnel. Grace is not achieved somewhere down the road. It is received right here and right now. It is not a finishing touch; it is the Finisher's touch."
His Amazing Grace is the enabling power and divine help found through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He knows you, perfectly, and because He knows you He knows exactly how to help you. Rely on Him, turn it over to Him. I promise you doing it alone will never work. He is my best friend, who I rely on, and who gives me the strength to do all that I do. I owe it all to Him.
If you got any tips on how to do Tongan Family History I am all ears...lol, we are going to the temple on Wednesday and we somehow have to find Sister Moala a family name. Send prayers.
Mucho Love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny Stuff:
-I made Sister Moala heart shaped pancakes for Valentines Day (okay maybe I forgot and made them 2 days late...but still)
-Last Monday I did the impossible and actually beat the Elders in my district in this super nerdy board game, I will not lie it was definitely a highlight of my week.
-I found out that Sister Moala danced for the King of Tonga, so uh thats cool. She taught me a few more moves this week and she even said that I was pretty good.
-Remember Angelo? He messengered me on Facebook this week, and he called me Grace...so that was weird.
-There is this guy in Woodland that the Sisters were teaching named Sean and I prayed for him literally every night and fasted for him a few times and when I met him he told me I would be invited to his baptism...pic feat below. BEST MESSAGE EVER.
