Week 20 Latter Day Savin!
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD
Your girl is STAYING here in West Wack! Miracle honestly. I am sticking with my previous statement, I think I am just staying here my whole mission. All of the Sisters in my zone stayed and all of the Elders but 2 left. So thats fun. Me and Sister Schmutz did a little dance for joy when we found out we get to stay together. I'm just so happy.
God is SO good! Denise came to church yesterday and BORE HER TESTIMONY! It was beautiful and all about change. We went over to her house on Saturday and helped her get all organized and picked out outfits for her to wear to church. The ward is still just embracing her and once again we had to fight to even talk to her. She even sat by some ward members during Sunday school. We love her very much.
God is SO good pt 2!! Jeremy also came to church on Sunday and LOVED it! He was able to meet a family in our ward that we have been trying to fellowship him with and they even invited him to an FHE at their home tomorrow night! Which we are stoked about. He looked like he has been apart of the ward for years.
God is SO good pt 3!!! We were tracting on Friday and feeling kinda down because we hadn't found anyone new to teach all week. We knocked on doors for 2 hours and at the very last door (which we contemplated even knocking) a women named Maureen answered and let us right in. Her and her 15 year old daughter let us teach them the first lesson right there and she told us all about her life experience with faith and finding God. She has experienced a lot of miracles and she is looking for a church right now!! We go back to teach her tomorrow and I am very very excited!
Halloween was an interesting experience here on the mission. I won't lie it was kinda fun knocking on doors with the little kids. Most people didn't appreciate it very much but almost everyone was nice and we even scored some candy. We had to be in by 7pm so we hurried home and read the Book of Mormon. Our mission President had extended the challenge to be done reading by October 31st. SO I read all of Mormon, Ether, and Moroni in a day. BUT I got it done!!
I LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON. This challenge has been such a HUGE blessing. I have never understood the stories as much as I do now. It is a book of blessings and joy and hope and love. It is a book that brings us closer to heaven. I love it so very much. A scripture that my dad actually pointed it out while I was talking with him on the phone is a newfound favorite:
3 Nephi 19: 23
"And now Father, I pray unto thee for them, and also for all those who shall believe on their words, that they may believe in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one."
This is Jesus Christ praying for the people. His earnest prayer is that we let Him in. That we let Him heal us and love us. He wants us to follow Him and grow closer to Him. Heavenly Father has given us a way to return back to Him. That way is through His son, Jesus Christ. All we have to do is let him in.
If you haven't read the Book of Mormon, I invite you to do so. I don't care if you have never read it or if it has just been awhile. I know that reading in the Book of Mormon will change your life for the better. I have seen it, the Book of Mormon found me. It helped me know how to let God lead my life. It is my favorite book because it is about my favorite person, my Savior Jesus Christ.
Mucho love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny Stuff:
-Shoutout to my girl Sabrina for introducing me to the Jack-O-Lantern Pizza, Halloween was 50x better because of it.
-We were tracting the other day and this group of kids just folllowed us around and tried to steal my stickers, they were cute though. One of them told me I looked Indian and then another one told me I had the whitest legs they had ever seen. So that was fun.
-We were knocking doors when all the sudden this random car pulls over and tells us they have a referral for us. They give us this guys address and tell us to go over there and then when we asked who they were they jokingly said one of the 3 Nephites, then they drove away. Spooky stuff. The guy at the address was nice though and said he would read the pamphlet.
-We see this random kid named Darell everywhere, we were all the way across town from where he lives on Halloween and we turn around and there he is and all he says is "Hey Latterday savin"
-The ward did a fast for missionary work this Sunday and I am very grateful, I feel like this is gonna be a real good transfer.
