Week 16 My Mother's worst Nightmare
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD!
The duo life has been a blast. Sister Schmutz is pretty much already trained and we have been working extremely hard all week. We have especially been trying to focus on accomplishing goals. So, we set a goal to set specific goals each finding time (hand out a Book of Mormon, talk to everyone, get a return appointment, etc.) Which has been going really well and we were able to have a lot of really spiritual contacts this week!
Every Thursday we rotate with the West Sac B sisters and teach a Book of Mormon class. The last few weeks we have had a hard time getting investigators there BUT God is good and this week Angelo was able to come! We read Alma 24 which if you haven't read it recently GO READ IT. ITS SO GOOD. He loved the chapter and all of the members were AMAZING at fellowshipping him and really making him feel like apart of the ward. One of the members even invited him to the potluck that we had on Saturday! Which went really well!
We invited anyone and EVERYONE we could to the potluck. We printed off invitations and left them on doors and texted pretty much everyone in our contacts which was well worth it because we saw 2 miracles! One of those is a guy named Kenny. He texted back and showed up to the potluck! We had taught him a few lessons in my first transfer but he was kind of hard to set firm appointments with. Well he came and LOVED it! All the members really rallied around him and Angelo and helped both of them feel included which was amazing!! We are going to start teaching him again this week!
Another Potluck miracle is this guy named Jeremy. We had left invitations everywhere and so had the other sisters so this guy named Jeremy just happened to get one and decided to show up to the potluck! He has some friends that are members and said he has been meaning to come check it out for quite some time. I got his contact information and he said he was open to learning more! He is in the other Sisters area and I'm so excited for them to start teaching him! It was very cool to see someone come because of all our efforts!
For those of you who do not know my mom HATES rats. To her very core, always has and always will. Well this week we went and visited a less active member in our ward. Turns out she breeds rats. She has 63 baby rats, 8 adult rats, 4 dogs, and 3 cats. It took me awhile but I gained enough courage to hold one of the babies and told her that I had to do it just so that I could have proof for my mom who hates them. She then insisted that I hold the other one too. Her rats were running all around her porch and she had 4 just chilling on her shirt/in her hair. So I literally lived my mothers nightmare haha. I didn't exactly enjoy it but she was extremely sweet and promised that she would watch general conference so it was worth it.
I love this gospel. I love this work. I love West Wacky.
Mucho love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny stuff:
-We felt inspired to switch streets during finding a few days ago and we found this cute little Russian kid just roaming around, he couldn't find his mom and he kept walking in the street, he legit was gonna get hit by a car. Luckily we found him though and about 5 mins later was able to find his mom who was very grateful. (Still didn't want to talk to us but was grateful) so that was cool.
-We were tracting that same day and this lady was growing these grapes on a veranda above her driveway. We told her how cool we thought they were and she went in and grabbed a baggie and gave us this huge bag of grapes. We still had like an hour left of finding so we just knocked on people's doors while I held a bag of grapes.
-We had a tornado warning so we had to end the potluck a little early. No worries, it was just a little lightening and dark clouds.
-I got to see my fave Coach Sister Jackson on Monday, I was so stoked.
