Week 13
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD!
Boy oh boy was this week full of exchanges. We did exchanges with both the West Sac B sisters and the Woodland sisters. For those of you who do not know, an exchange is when the STLs switch with the sister missionaries in their zone to help to encourage and uplift them and offer any help in their work. So, it was my 4th exchange ever and it was my first exchange officially in someone elses area and I was the STL. Not gonna lie it was pretty intimidating, but extremely fun and so so good.
Exchange #1 was on Tuesday to Wednesday. I brought sweet Sister Conor back here to West wacky. Sister Conor came in the same time as Sister Schmutz so she is still a cute greenie (I guess technically im still a greenie too, but I like to say I am more of a light green greenie now lol.) But we had such a good exchange! We had a really cool experience when we were finding. We went to this apartment complex where most of the people did not speak english. I tried to introduce us in spanish as missionaries twice...and lets just say I do not speak spanish. Most of the people seemed like they at least appreciated the effort. We had knocked on 2 of the buildings of the complex with little to no luck and so we decided to pray for direction. The numer 34 just poppped into my head and I was like okay lets go for it. So I drug Sister Conor to this apartment and we knocked on the door. Turns out the lady had a brother who served a mission and actually died on his mission. She was very familiar with our faith and even though she said she wasn't interested right now she did accept a Book of Mormon and she said that we really brightened her day. So that was really cool. God works in mysterious ways honestly. Sister Conor is awesome though and I love being an STL.
Exchange #2 was on Thursday to Friday with Sister Weight. I went with her to her area in West Sac B. She has been having knee problems lately so the mission gave them a car for the rest of the transfer, which I was very grateful for bc even though it is cooling down it is still super duper hot for biking. It was weird to be the STL on my first real transfer in someone elses area but it was real good because Sister Weight is just that cool. We painted nails and talked a bunch and handed out some Book of Mormons. We also taught a lesson and got a return appointment with a guy named Alfredo (who knew it was such a popular name) he was super cool and had some really good questions about the Book of Mormon. It was pretty good stuff.
I really love being an STL. It is super weird being so new and doing it bc I don't know what I am doing half the time but as I trust in Him God just really guides me on how to help these sisters. I have grown so close to each of them and I learn so much from them. It was weird to not be with my companions for 4 days though. Very disorienting.
While I was in West Sac B, my companions found a women named Denise! YOU GUYS I LOVE DENISE. SO MUCH. They scheduled a return appointment with her on Saturday and when we came over she had just finished bleaching her floor. She invited a friend over and told us that they wanted everything to look really nice because as servants of the Lord we deserve it. Both her and her friend went and put on dresses and they made us cute little sandwiches. I felt like a princess, they were so nice. We taught them the restoration, and it was so cool because after I recounted the first vision we could just see the light click in Denise's head. We asked her what her thoughts were about Joseph Smiths experience and she said that she knows its true, that the spirit testified it to her. MIRACLE! It was honestly so cool. We invited her to pray about the Book of Mormon and she told us how excited she was to do so and to keep learning with us. I. LOVE. HER.
Angelo has been AWOL for the last week which as you know is pretty worrisome since he was supposed to get baptized on Saturday. We finally tracked him down on Friday and turns out he just got a new job that has been keeping him really busy. He says that he still wants to get baptized and is really working on his Word of Wisdom issues so that he can be ready. We talked to him more about the importance and strength that comes from church attendance and he promised he would come to stake conference, AND HE DID! I was so so happy! He was finally able to meet the member we have been trying to introduce to him and he said that he really liked everything that the Stake President said and I could melt I was just so happy. So we are very hopeful that his baptism will still happen this month!
James (guy who wants the baptismal interview questions) went out of town this week so we are hoping to see him tomorrow! We have interviews with president tomorrow and I am absolutely baffled by how fast this transfer has gone by, we only have 1 Pday left! After interviews we are going on our last exchange, I will be with Sister Dribnak in Woodland and I am very excited about that.
Life is good. God is good. Keep praying. I love this gospel.
Mucho love,
Sister Tams
