Week 11 Downing Cherry Pepsi!
FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD!
DRUMROLL PLEASSEEEEEEEE......Angelo has OFFICIALLY set a date so that is so so so so so exciting! He has set 2 others in the past BUT this time we had him pray about and choose the date AND he actually chose one and prayed about it which is so good! We are so excited for him, he has been doing way wayyyy better with his Word of Wisdom issues! I am so stoked. YOU GUYS, HE LOVES GOD. When we very first met him he wasn't sure if there was a God and he was positive that if there was one that he didn't care about him. FULL CIRCLE. WE ASKED HIM WHY HE WANTED TO BE BAPTIZED AND HE SAID ITS BECAUSE HE LOVES GOD AND WANTS TO SHOW HIM THAT HE LOVES HIM! STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN. IM SO HAPPY. Now everyone just pray that he can get himself to church the next 2 weeks! (he is still a 21 year old boy who loves to sleep in) so pls pray 4 him, thank you.
ZONE CONFERENCE WAS ON THURSDAY! I LOVE ZONE CONFERENCE. SO MUCH. In case y'all didn't know I love my mission president with my whole heart, he is an inspired man! We talked all about the Book of Mormon and its role in conversion and people THE BOOK OF MORMON IS SO IMPORTANT! SO IMPORTANT! Let me just give you a little challenge, if you are feeling sad, or lonely, or any sorta way this week pray bout it and then open the Book of Mormon. I can PROMISE you that you will get the answers you are searching for (all you gotta do is have sincere intent and believe). God WANTS TO COMMUNICATE WITH US. I can never stress that enough. YOU ALL have a LOVING Father in Heaven who wants to help you with what you are going through. HE WILL NOT FORSAKE YOU! I can absolutely promise you that. I hope that you were able to see his hand more in your life this week. It is there, I know it is.
Anyways, sorta sorry bout the tangent...not that sorry tho
President Meservey extended a challenge at zone conference: Read the Book of Mormon by October 31st. So in order to accomplish that we are to read 7 pages a day and YOU GUYS it is so good. That book is so good. So not only do I challenge you to open it but I challenge you to join me and my mission in this challenge. Read 7 pages a day so that you can be done with us by Halloween. I promise that finishing will be better than any Halloween candy you will ever get (which coming from me is saying a lot, I LOVE CANDY)
Speaking of my love for candy, I have signed a contract. Me and the Sisters in West Sac are doing 10g of sugar a day for the rest of the transfer (1 month). So wish me luck...I think I can do it. Today is day 1 and so far so good. Honestly I have just seen a whole lot of people recently who are really dependent on substances and I just don't want to be that way even if it is just with sugar. I will be a slave to nothing...haha or at least that is my quote for the next month, we will see how it goes.
Honestly it was a very weird week, we had a lot of finding time and met some really cool people. God is really just trying to clear our time up, so there has gotta be someone pretty amazing he is preparing us to meet. Its Gods mission honestly Im just living in it.
God is good. I love my Savior. I love this work. I love the Book of Mormon. I love my life.
Mucho Love,
Sister Tams
Other/Funny Stuff:
-We played Catch Phrase last Monday and all my Oregon peeps know that I crushed it at that game.
-The Zone Leaders got a new trainee that is waiting for his visa and I totally 100% guessed who it was gonna be...so I dont know I might be a psychic or something
-We met this lady who told us many many times that she LOVES RELIEF SOCIETY. She also was very kind and was giving away some jeans and 2 kilts! Me and Sister Bunch were stoked, kilts are so fun. (too bad she was like 2 pounds and they were made for children) Its okay though because we donated them to our Relief Societys service project.
-We saw Sister Colipapa for the last time @ zone conference): She is going back to Temple Square this week, so for all my Utah peeps (which is most of you) go say hi to her bc she is pretty much the coolest.
-We went and saw a cute Indian couple and they offered us Cherry Pepsi (for those of you who don't know in Indian culture, it is very rude not to drink all of what they offer you, and I have been off of soda for a little over 3 years...) sooooo, me and my companions had to awkwardly drink these big glasses of Pepsi while they just stared at us...to say the least we were all (turns out my comps are off soda too) very sick for the next couple hours.
-Our investigator Alfredo finally texted us back and invited us to San Fransisco for the weekend...tempting but we had to politely decline. Its all good though bc we set up an appointment to teach him when he gets back.
