Week 9 Lukewarm Rootbeer Floats!

FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,

I SURVIVED MY FIRST TRANSFER IN THE MISSION FIELD! Sadly, Sister Colipapa was a casualty. We lost our sweet sweet Philipino friend to the Fairfield zone where she will help white wash and train with an Hermana. She will be missed. However, Me and Sister Bunch are staying in West Wacky and we are getting a new trainee! (Thats how good Sister Bunch is, she has 2 trainees at the same time) Also, for some crazy reason president extended the call for me to be an STL this transfer! So yeah, crazy stuff but I am really excited to serve in the way God wants me to.

This week was a good one, it was a little weird actually because all of the sudden people stopped answering us. It's like someone was following behind us making sure that nobody responded to our messages (my guess is on satan) Butttt that didn't stop us from having some really good lessons and meeting some awesome people. One of those people is April! April has been being taught off and on by the missionaries for 2 years! On Wednesday we had a lesson with Angelo when he called and cancelled on us (again, sad sauce) so we prayed about what we should do for the extra hour that we had and while we were praying Aprils name came into my mind (which I knew wasn't my idea since I have never even met her) so we decided to go with it and when we got to her apartment she told us that she had literally just told her partner that they needed to go back to church. MIRACLE! We then had a really good lesson with her about why God gives us trials and we invited her and her family to church on Sunday, and guess what...THEY CAME! (Only to the last 20 minutes buttt THEY CAME!) I was so happy, afterwards we got her a priesthood blessing for comfort and she said that she felt peace and more strength afterwards. Which was amazing! She also promised us that she would attend next week and bring chips for the linger longer!!! YAY!!

We also had both of the Joses that we are teaching come to church on Sunday. Jose #1 is the one that we got back from the Hermanas and he came for Sacrament and in sacrament they talked all about forgiveness which was perfect since Jose has had a hard time forgiving/not being bitter towards the person that shot him (understandable)  Jose #2 is the son-in-law of a couple that the missionaries have been teaching off and on for awhile. We went over there on Tuesday and he expressed to us how much he wanted to change his life so that he can help his family, he has gone through some really hard things but as he attended church he said that he felt a renewed sense of confidence that he could turn things around. We also got him a priesthood blessing for healing. So it was a great Sunday and a great week! I really feel like we were extremely spiritually led because most of the really good lessons that we had happened after someone else cancelled on us. God really does have a plan. A PERFECT ONE!

Someone I have been meaning to tell you all about is Ludwig. Oh Ludwig, he makes us the BEST BBQ lunches...he is the maintance guy at our apartment building and we have been teaching him every once in awhile during his lunch break. The last 2 times he has insisted on grilling for us and he makes the BEST steaks. Seriously he spoils us, they are SO good. He is also a real estate agent on the side and loves that I know a little about that because of my mom. He is awesome and basically told us this week that he didn't feel the need to pray about if Joseph Smith was a prophet because the evidence already supports that he is. haha, we still encouraged him to pray about it so that he could get an answer for himself but that was a new experience for us. He is awesome and we are going to refer him to the Sacramento missionaries so that he can start attending church there, he will be missed...especially his steaks.

Sister Williams from West Sac B (Same ward, split area) also went home today! I am sad to see her go because of all of the love she has for the people but I am exctied for her. Sister Weight is staying in that area and getting a new companion named Sister Gallew, she is picking her up today! She is the only one in our zone that isnt training this transfer! We have 4 out of 5 companionships training!! CRAZY! But exciting!

Twas a good week

Other/Funny Stuff:
-Sister Bunch was contacting this guy and she says "Can I read you a shripper.." he said no and it took all I have in me not to laugh till I cried right then and there
-It was rootbeer float day at KFC on Tuesday so we went to get a free one and they were lukewarm...RIP
-Did I ever mention that we live in YOLO county? Its fitting for West Wacky
-RIP Colipapa, Im an STL ahhhhhhh
-Since it was Sister William's last week in the mission she had to spend the rest of the money on her card so she bought us a whole lot of donuts...literally donuts for days

Mucho Love,
Sister Tams
