Week 5 We aren't Nuns!

FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,
I know you were all holding your breath, checking your email every 2 seconds, just waiting in anticipation wondering when I was going to send this email, well the wait is over...P-day this week was on Friday, do not worry I am alive and well. We got to go to the temple today with one of our recent converts named Etta. It was such a cool experience because she got to do baptisms for her daughter that passed away, her mom, and her grandma. She has back problems so she only got baptized for her daughter and then my companions did the other 2 of her names, I was only slightly sad that I didn't get to do any of hers when I got into the font and the first name I got baptized for was "Etta." God truly does know exactly where we are and exactly what we are doing all of the time. It was such a cool experience! When we go to the temple our Pday switches hence why I was keeping y'all on your toes.

Something that really surprised

me this week was how much I really enjoy finding/tracting. We were able to meet so many cool people this week and we were truly led by the spirit. 2 of those people are Juanita and Marcos. We had been knocking on doors for a couple of hours and either no one was home or they just didn't want to listen, our goal was to find 2 new people though and we were determined. We only had about 30 minutes left of finding and we prayed about where we should go and decide to head towards where our appointment was that night. We get in the car and start to drive and one of my comps (Sister Colipapa) says that she thinks we should stop at this park and talk to this guy with his kid. We say okay and head over to talk to him, we begin our conversation and it turns out super awkward, he tells us that we are intruding and eventually tells us to have a good day but that he really wasn't interested. Feeling super awkward and a little discouraged we decide to walk the other way instead of towards our car so that we didn't have to encounter him again. Low and behold that awkward moment was meant to be because in our walking who do we run into? Juanita and Marcos. We asked them if they knew of anyone that could use a message of hope or peace and they said they did. They have been living at a homeless shelter for a bit now and were super super kind to us and loved the message we shared. We had 2 other lessons with them later in the week and they were awesome! Them and a few others are why I love tracting so much, as we have been listening to our spiritual promptings we have truly been able to find those that God needs us to speak to. God is so good!

We had some really good spiritual lessons this week too. We got to bring Leonard and Angelo to a baptism in Davis, which turned out amazing! We had a little lesson with them afterwards and taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we taught about baptism and how important it is. They both prayed about it and said it was something they wanted to do!!! Now all we have to do is help them stop smoking! God will provide for sure and I have a lot of faith that in His perfect timing they will be able to have that incredible opportunity.

Oh West Wacky...never disappoints. This week we had quite a few fun experiences. There is a women named Holly that we met after she fell off of her bike and she was so grateful for us that she gave us these fruits (still not sure what they were) as a show of gratitude. She then told us that she really wants to become a nun and asked us how we became nuns. It was fun explaining that we actually aren't, not sure she fully understood but we gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to read it! That is just one of the examples, I LOVE the people here, wackiness and all.

This week was also Zone conference!! My FIRST zone conference!! Such a success, I absolutely love my mission president and his wife and I loved getting instruction from them on how we can become the missionaries that God wants us to be. We also found out that last month our zone had the 2nd highest baptisms! Which is so exciting, bringing souls to the waters of baptism is such an uplifting and incredible experience. My companions are the STLs of our zone and they killed it with their teaching about the Holy Ghost, I am blessed with spiritually guided comps. I also got to see a few of my MTC Sisters which was SUCH a blessing! I love them all so so much!

The members here are also amazing, just FYI

Funny/Other stuff:
-Sister Colipapa tried her first icecream sandwich and hobo dinner, we also found out that she has a very hard time saying apostate...she always says applestate lol.
-I am tired ALL the time, missions man...they'll get ya
-It has been like 104-110 here all week! SO SO HOT! Its like its summer or something.

Mucho love,
Sister Tams
