Week 1 I love EFY...I mean the MTC!
FRIEND AND FAMILY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CHILDREN OF GOD,
I LOVE THE MTC WITH MY WHOLE HEART! If I could I would stay here forever listening to all the gospel message and feeling the spirit EVERY second. I am not kidding I feel the spirit ALL the time! It is incredible! My days so far have been extremely busy and packed with classes and learning and role playing and more classes, but I have loved EVERY minute. I even love waking up at the crack of dawn (AKA 6:30 in the AM) It is a blessing and I am so so privileged to serve!
I ALSO LOVE MY DISTRICT WITH MY WHOLE HEART! We have 8 sisters in my district all going to California, Santa Rosa English speaking, which has been such a blessing! Its incredible to know that we are all doing this mission experience together...beginning to end. Then we have 3 Elders that are going to Denver, Colorado South Mission (pause here to listen for Annas loud cheering over that fact) and they are amazing. Yesterday we had class instruction and our teacher had us close our eyes and rate a bunch of things about our MTC experience from 1-5 when she asked how much we loved our district she had us open our eyes and look around at every single one of us holding up 5s confidently. They are all so funny and so spiritual.
My companion is Sister Kennedy Hurst from Lehi, Utah. She has such a sweet spirit and is so in tune with the guiding of the Holy Ghost. It amazes me every time we have companion study and end up thinking the exact same thing about our investigators! We did our first contact yesterday and met Emerald, she is from Colorado and is curious about the nature of God and what our church believes...I love her already. We meet with her on Monday to teach the first lesson and I am already so excited. Me and my companion have been praying for and studying for her since we met and it is one of the most special experiences I have been able to have thus far. Learning to forget myself in the work is not always easy but I have so enjoyed learning how to look outward at the needs of my companion and my district and those we are teaching.
I feel like I am at EFY times a million. Pretty much my life is surrounded by righteous sons and daughters of God with a desire to serve Him and feeling the spirit in every class. EFY is the closest thing I can compare it to and at least so far it is not real to me that this is a year and a half experience not just a week long EFY, and I am so grateful. Grateful that I get to have this experience and live my life dedicated to Him and His work.
Other things:
1. I keep falling asleep with my nametag on
2. Sister Barr in my district in from Canada and the amount of foreigner jokes have been unreal
3. We have made random toasts everyday (to prime minister of Canada, Gods creations, Brownies, etc.)
4. I have had cereal with A LOT of my meals!
5. My district has nicknamed me Momma Tams... they of course call me sister but they say that I am like their mom away from home, which is nice.
Sorry this was long, I can't believe it has only been 3 days
I LOVE GOD AND I LOVE YOU BROTHERS AND SISTERS READING THIS
Mucho love,
SISTER TAMS
